Public Health Minister: Qatar Keen to Provide Better Health Services to Population
HE the Minister of Public Health Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari has confirmed Qatar's keenness to provide the best curing and preventive health service to all the population, pointing out that health comes at the helm of the state's priorities and enjoys unlimited support from the wise leadership under HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
In a statement on the occasion of the World Health Day, which falls on April 7 every year, Dr. Hanan Al-Kuwari said the State of Qatar is joining world countries in this important occasion which sheds light on health issues of priority, noting that the importance of celebrations marking the World Health Day this year, stems from its fight against diabetes mellitus which, she said, constitutes a challenge to health worldwide.
Dr. Hanan Al Kuwari explained that World Health Organization's (WHO) statistics showed that diabetes cause death to around 1.5 million persons annually at the world level, saying this need pooled international efforts to find means of limiting the effect of this disease.
The State of Qatar pays great attention to this aspect, the Public Health Minister said explaining that the state has launched Qatar National Diabetes Strategy with the aim of formulating an advanced vision for health care to diabetes patients and description of means of improving health and quality of life in the State of Qatar in order to realize aspirations for prevention of diabetes.
Concluding, Dr. Hanan Al Kuwari said this strategy will be carried out to limit the spread of diabetes and its complications, improve the patient's empowerment, limit the disease and its progress, provide high quality care to diabetes patients and draw up programmes on information and diabetes researches.
