Hamad Expo marks importance of Home Healthcare
HAMAD Medical Corporation's (HMC) Home Healthcare Services (HHCS) has conducted a Home Care Day exhibition with the theme: 'Your health is our primary concern' to highlight the significance of home healthcare in the community, and to celebrate the work of the multidisciplinary teams comprising the HHCS.
The HHCS provides holistic and specialised support to patients who have been discharged from the hospital but require follow-up care and rehabilitation. It is part of HMC's Continuing Care Group that just received Joint Commission International's accreditation, which recognises the services' commitment to quality.
Held at Bayt Al Dhiyafah in Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City, the exhibition showcased the specialised services provided by the multidisciplinary teams comprising the HHCS, including patient educators, speech therapists, respiratory therapists, subspecialty wound care nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, dietitians, clinical pharmacists, social workers, private nursing services, medical equipment team, nurses, laboratory, home healthcare physicians, HMC's Mobile Doctor Service, referral management and the quality management team.
"We at the HHCS are committed to ensuring that each patient receives the highest standards of care. We are holding this event to create awareness about the service and celebrate the work of the multidisciplinary teams who are responsible for our daily success," said Khalid al Qahtani, Assistant Chief Executive Officer of the HHCS.
"We believe that successful outcomes depend on working together. Each of our multidisciplinary teams plays an essential and integral role in providing our patients with the safest, most effective and compassionate care," stated the event's organising team, composed of Antonia Limpiada, HHCS Assistant Executive Director of Nursing; and HHCS Directors of Nursing Maryam al Tamimi, Fatma al Haddad, Asmaa Mahfouz, Aisha Hammam and Amal Nasser al Saif.
About 1,104 patients are currently being cared for under the HHCS. Home Healthcare services are provided to patients based on the individual needs of each patient and family.
The exhibition also featured HMC's health services provider partners and suppliers of medical equipment and consumables.
As the National Health Strategy Program 2011-2016 draws to a close, project information is currently being updated and will be available in the coming weeks.
